Your Spotify wrapped starts today
The idea of aggregating efforts and building consistency over intensity
1/52.
Few hours ago, I played Fido’s “Joy is Coming” because a friend recommended it and his next song -Awolowo which is about smoking came up and played.
I stopped it midway because while I don’t condemn anybody, I don’t smoke and I do not listen to anything that encourages smoking . (I stopped listening to Omah Lay’s Oh my Dealer, when I discovered the Canada wasn’t the country but the loud).
I later played a BlackPink playlist, then Jung-Kook, then BTS , then switched to CHH, and listened to Anike(Formerly Wande), Jackie Hill Perry and Lecrae. Apparently (for those who listen to Christian Rap and hip-hop,) there was a Deluxe to CC4. I was delighted to see this and streamed immediately.
This newsletter is not about music and I will make my point in a bit.
Last year was the first time I didn’t post my FULL Spotify and Youtube Music wrap online (I posted some portions ).
Why didn’t I?
Well, because, in some perturbing ways I do not understand, Rema made it to my top 5, and he wasn’t number 5, number 4, or number 3; yes, he was number 2 on my list.
Of the list of over 600 artists I listened to this (last) year, REMA WAS NUMBER 2! HOWWWWWW??
Now, I don’t have anything against Rema as a person, but I do not know any Rema songs, and I am very sure I can not sing more than a single line in all of his songs - sadly, history and statistics shows (and I do not deny ) that I listened to his album at least twice, and I listened to his tracks (Call Azaman and Benin Boys) at least 10 times. (I have Treasure Okure, Happiness and Chidinma Okoli to blame for this).
Scrap that, it’s on me. There has been arguments about the (in)accuracy of Spotify wrapped this (last) year but that’s not the point.
As I said, this newsletter isn’t about music, it’s about how the little things aggregate and how doing somethings (or not doing somethings) aggregate a lot.
My friends who are gym rats swear that going to the gym for 30 mins daily is better than 2 hours every two weeks, and my friends who walk will rather do 10,000 steps everyday than doing 20,000 once a month.
Its better to write different portions of your essays-writing once every two days than rushing to the deadline in four hours (this is a self-sub), and it is always easier to save 100k every month for your house-rent than to wait till your rent is one month to deadline before you pay (another self-sub).
It’s the new year and the goals are rolling in. Vision-boards are getting set and some will get set over the next couple days or weeks.
The secret to achieving most of those goals is to do little bits everyday, every week or every month depending on the uniqueness of your goal. I am hoping that this year, we (because again this is a self-sub), practise consistency over intensity and attempt to achieve our goals in bits and bits; and yes, that includes your Spotify wrapped too. (winks).
This is already looking long so I’d say, happy new year; cheers to good success, maximizing opportunities and making lots of moneyyy.
Happy new year people!
What business can we do together this year?
As the habit is;

Finally off my movie streak and rewatching King The Land
Something New:
Feng Shui literally means “wind” (Feng) and “water” (Shui). It is an ancient method of constructing and optimizing residences and businesses to bring about happiness, abundance, and harmony. It includes architecture, urban planning, interior design, and garden design.
I might write more about this topic one of these days.
What are you looking forward to this year and what can we do together this year? Do share with me.
Atomic Habit by James Clear is top tier
I'm looking forward to starting. Starting in everyway you call it. Upping every other thing, but literally starting and staying at it.
I hope I come back to this comment in December to say I finished. 😅
